Welcome to Stockholm - join us at R1, Monday 13th May at 18:30

We are delighted to invite you to visit the Reactor Building R1 to welcome you to Stockholm, meet each other and learn more about the city.

25 meters below the surface of KTH’s campus, a pit in the concrete testifies to the childhood of Swedish nuclear power technology. In this pit lay Sweden’s first nuclear reactor, the research reactor R1.

Reactor Building R1 is a significant landmark in Swedish nuclear history. It was the first nuclear reactor in Sweden and played a crucial role in the country's nuclear research in the 1950s and 60s.

The reactor was decommissioned in 1970 and disassembled in 1982. The R1 reactor hall has since decommissioning been used for other purposes. Since 1998, KTH Royal Institute of Technology has used the former reactor hall as a mix between museum, performance venue, studio, lab etc.

During our visit, we will have the opportunity to explore the reactor building and learn about its history and significance. We will also have a chance to meet and interact with other conference visitors.

We hope you will join us for this exciting opportunity to learn, explore and connect with others. Please indicate in the registration form if you are able to attend, and we will provide you with all the necessary details for the visit.
