R1 KTH Reactor Hall - a unique venue

The KTH Reactor Hall used to house the R1 research reactor, Sweden's first nuclear reactor, which is now shut down and decommissioned.

The KTH Reactor Hall is located just over 25 metres below ground level on the KTH Campus and is accessible by lift or stairs. The KTH Reactor Hall is unique with its history and its environment with grey concrete walls, grid patterns in the ceiling and walls and no telephone coverage. The coordinate system on the ceiling is a remnant of the radiation measurements taken before the reactor was shut down.
